چکیده
Background: The herb Neptunia prostrata Linn. belonging to the family Mimosaceae has been used in folkloric medicine North-eastern states of India Assam, Tripura and Meghalaya by indigenous herbal healers since time immemorial but there is a scarcity any background study documenting its use as an antimicrobial herb. For same, plants were collected authenticated. Methods: Following identification these herbs methanolic, ethanolic, pet ether chloroform extracts prepared using soxhlation. Acute toxicity per OECD guidelines 420 was assessed wistar albino rats swiss mice (n=5) both sexes at doses 2000 mg/kg body weight did not reveal morbidity or mortality animals within stipulated period. Phytochemical screening performed on all four prostrata. Results: constituents depicted presence glycoside, flavonoids only methanolic extracts. Alkaloids present extract. antidiabetic antihyperlipidemic activity HFD-STZ models rats. showed antioxidant comparable standard antioxidants in-vitro such Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) with IC50 values. Conclusions: Results shows immense potential animal therapeutics antibacterial suggests conspicuous potent putative role vast plethora bacterial infections that need be corroborated for expansion future prospective vivo studies larger sample size.

Hyperglycemia, the primary clinical manifestation of diabetes, is associated with the development of diabetic complications. Several studies have suggested that hypergly...
متن کاملExperimental Diabetes Mellitus in Different Animal Models
Animal models have historically played a critical role in the exploration and characterization of disease pathophysiology and target identification and in the evaluation of novel therapeutic agents and treatments in vivo. Diabetes mellitus disease, commonly known as diabetes, is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by high blood glucose levels for a prolonged time. To avoid late complic...
متن کاملEnsete superbum ameliorates renal dysfunction in experimental diabetes mellitus
Objective(s):Hyperglycemia mediated oxidative stress plays a key role in the pathogenesis of diabetic complications like nephropathy. In the present study, we evaluated the effect of ethanolic extract of Ensete superbum seeds (ESSE) on renal dysfunction and oxidative stress in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Materials and Methods:Glucose, HbA1c, total protein, albumin, renal function mar...
